Larry,

I think Duplicolor has a paint for plastic. I have painted some plastic with out any issues.

Duplicolor gloss black. I did the steering column cowl in the same color. Next time I'll do a matte - the gloss causes glare from the dash lights to hit the windscreen at night.

Rick is right about the gloss finish. I think I used the flat and found that it had the look like the original.

Someone on here used a color other than black for their dash, console, door panels, etcetera - it was either yellow or red. It wasn't to everyone's tastes, but it looked pretty cool to me. You can use the Duplicolor or I think Krylon makes Fusion in several colors that I've used on plastic with good results. Just make sure the plastic you're spraying is super clean. The person I mention above used a more professional brand. but I don't remember what brand. Do a search on the forum and you should find a few threads. Have fun!

You don't want to use a gloss like the Fusion stuff. They make paints just for what you want to do. you can go to your local parts store and get the stuff Duplicolor makes, which works pretty good, or you can go to an automotive paint store and get better quality stuff, just tell them you want interior paint, and they have a chart (usually) with lots of colors, and can tint it anyway you want. Just remember prep is everything to get a good result.

Just for reference, many years ago I applied a very light coat of semi-gloss Krylon to a Mark I center console. It came out pretty darn nice and held up for many years. Were I to do it again I'd probably use a flexible paint and thicker coat, just because I'm not as willing to experiment with paint as I was in my teens. Replacement center consoles aren't quite as easy to come by these days, either!

Yeah, Duplicolor has a nice new line of plastic and trim paint. I just went all conservative with the Satin Black, but it went on well, nice and grippy and looks very good. I'm not a big fan of shiny plastic.
