In keeping with my current valve cover restoration, other than the appropriate holes for rivets, how was it determined what valve covers got the aluminum ID plates, or the decals?
I like the looks of the plates better than the decals, but my valve cover doesn't have the holes for the rivets. Would I be committing a crime against my restoration by drilling holes and installing the plates?
Continuing with the valve cover.

Jeff,
The earlier 950 and 1098 engines had the plates, but I'm not sure about the 1275. I don't thnk it would be a problem at all if you go with the plates instead of decals. It's your car and whatever makes you happy.
Mine has the plates. Not original color, but it matches the overall red and black theme of the car.
