Hello folks,

I may be becoming an immigrant from the B side of the site.

Was stumbling over a 4.0 Land Rover Discovery engine today.

Any reason that engine (or the 3.9 for that matter) would be a poor choice for a B conversion?

Thank you,

Landon Hunter

While your dreaming, study some conversions. I'll bet you will come to the same conclusions they did. ;)

The 4.0's are good.
Mines a 4.0, but doesn't have the cross bolts. An intermediate version.
You might need to swap the front off a 3.5 (bolts on) and if it's the square plenum, put a curvy one on. Don't know if you can use the 4.0 computer and dist'. Different country. The 3.5 front can fit the RV8 oil pump adapter, the later one can't

Landon,

Welcome to the dark side. At the top of the V6/V8 forum is an FAQ section about doing a V6 or V8 conversion, many questions are reviewed there. Good luck and let us know what you come up with.

*** Welcome to the opening of the new possibilities for the B. ***

About the motor choice: choose the motor on its own merits, rather than its proximity. There is a lot of discussion about the costs, performance and trade-offs of the various motor and tranny combinations. There are several proven routes to consider:
V6's (RWD and FWD)
V8's (Rover and Ford)

The big differences are cost, performance and ease of conversion. You pays your money and takes your choice.
