My ebay auction for the Herald ended last night with a bid of $4,365. Hopefully it will soon be headed to Hagerstown, MD. I am pleased with the price because I'm getting my investment back with just a few extra bucks for my time. It definitely wasn't a winning proposition if I remember how much misery I was in last summer trying to get it back on the road.

Anyway, I'm just hoping the buyer comes through with the funds - always a worry with ebay. You can't believe all the dumb questions you get from people on an auction like that. Last night a guy calls me up (he had asked for my number) and VERY smugly said "what's it take to buy this car?" I said, "Well, you need to be the high bidder at the end of the auction." Him (smugly again) "The auction is over and noone bid." Me, "Uh, there's 30 minutes left and someone HAS bid." Dumbass.

UPDATE: My faith in humanity is restored! The buyer has contacted me, has sent the deposit, and has already begun arrangements for transport. WOW - these things can work out! I guess I need to learn to be less cynical. I sure hope she likes the car!

Ryan - just a note. That pic of you and your pal cleaning up the lawnmowers is excellent!

Cool! I'm glad it's working out. Yes, sometimes ebay or selling to other enthusiast can be scary.

I have had perfect results on e-bay, but no cars sold or bought. I don't think I could/would ever buy a car on e-bay unless I could inspect the car in person.

Congrats on your deal Ryan. Now, if the guy shows up with a $10,000 Cashier's Check and asks for the overage back in cash....plus the car.....run like the wind.

Tom, that's my son Max and he definitely is my best bud. I rue the day that he decides anyone is cooler than Dad. If someone with a phony check shows up I'll just sic Max on them with the new golf clubs he got for his third b-day!
