Wooooo Weeeee Back in Dec of '08 a member of the board had a few of the Audiovox cruise controls that he wanted to get rid of for the low price of $80(if I recall). Being somewhat of a purist with my car being original, and wanting to keep it that way I was hesitant to take the plunge and purchase it. I went ahead and it sat on the shelf till today. Printed out the directions from Mike Barnes and with the photos he emailed me(months ago) I now have a functioning cruise control installed! Just returned from a (second,) maiden voyage and it performed flawlessly. The directions were right on target.
THANK YOU MIKE!
It wasn't without one hiccup though that I must admit to. The first trip out to test it was met with the unit not responding..... The light would come on when powered, but I would hold the set button and nothing was happening. Huh? Came back home and a quick check of the wiring I found I had it connected to the wrong side of the coil. Another trip out confirmed all is good. I cannot beleive how sweet it is having it on there, what a difference when cruising on the freeway.
Just need to tidy up the wiring in the interior as I did the engine bay during the install.

For those who want cruise control but weren't lucky enough to get an Audiovox unit, I'm currently trying to work on a replacement, probably based on a GM unit. Don't expect results any time soon but I need cruise on my GT so I'm determined to figure it out! :D

It's the pricey bit I'm trying to fix, I have a complete GM unit pulled from a junkyard car for less than $20, now I'm trying to figure out how to make is work simply with an MG.
