MGB: Cut down windscreen update

I attempted to cut down an original glass windscreen that I had just sitting around, but that worked out about as good as I thought it would (bottom line: don't try this at home). So I cut one out of some plexi to see how it fit. Next I'll use the plexi one as a template to cut one out of Lexan since I think that would be safer.

Here's a couple photos of how the windscreen came out and I'll start another post with photos of how the fairing looks so far. And I think I have the park lights mounted on the wrong sides and should swap them. Someone please confirm that. I haven't finished the body work around the park lights nor below the tail lights yet.

Lights do need to be switched.

Why don't you just add your fairing pictures to this thread, as advertised in the title?

Thanks Derek, I'll switch the lights. I didn't know if there was a limit to the amount of photos that can be posted in one thread since some other forums I'm on do have a limit. I've just posted the next thread with the fairing.

to post more than 2 pictures just reply to yourself and post 2 more, and 2 more and 2 more.....

You're limited to attaching 2 pictures/post, but no limit to how many you can put in a thread. But if you put the pictures in something like Photobucket you can put any number in a single post.

You can also Edit your original post to remove reference to the fairing, so you don't disappoint readers! :) As I've done above!

I like the look. What do you think about a speedster style ragtop?

I like the look of the screen. Keep us informed. I'm planning to do the same (eventually) to an MGA.

I don't plan on a ragtop since I won't be using the car for anything but show and just driving around on nice days. Since it's not street legal there's no point in trying to make it watertight. But I guess you can add studs along the top edge of the windscreen and then use a stock top without the front frame rail somehow. It would be interesting to see...

Are you going to get rid of the wipers?

Oh, that looks cool!

I won't put the wiper arms back on, but I'm not sure if I'll remove the motor and mounting points or not. If I leave them, I would cover them with some kind of cap that I would machine out of aluminum, unless I can find something off the shelf for the purpose. I may leave them just because at this point I haven't done anything to the car that can't be reversed without the need for bodywork. Not sure why I might want to reverse things unless I decide someday that I want it to be street legal again.

Just thinking...maybe I can cut down the wiper arms and blades and use them. It would make the windscreen look more original to the car if it had them, even if the shortened sweep of the blades wouldn't overlay enough. I'll have to take some measurements and think about that.
