Hi as you can see I'm from the B side but this question is A related. My early metal dashboard is out and I'm refurbishing it. I can't decide whether to go back to crinkle finish black or paint it body colour. Do you A guys have any comments about sun reflecting off your painted dashboards especially bright red (tartan red) or any other comments. I like the painted look but I was just wondering....

Barrie, absolutely not an issue from the dashboard, even if we have a bit less sun than you.... There are sometimes strange reflections from the scuttle top in the windscreen, but that's another story...
Thanks Neil - I'll suffer similar scuttle top reflections as I'm not running the black vinyl on top either. Mind you I won't be suffering the white glare you guys have at the moment!
Can you believe it is a beautiful sunny day here, not a breath of wind so it feels warm (ok mild). The only snow I have seen this winter is on the mountain tops. I know there has been some more severe weather in other parts of the country.
X 2 on Neill's response except for the amount of sunshine here. Yesterday we were in the 80's with beautiful sunshine and great MGA driving weather.
Not so much from the dash face. But the top shelf is somewhat reflective. When I first ran mine after the restoration, I thought the engine was blowing smoke or steam out the bonnet. But it only did it when I went on patchy shaded roads. In direct sun light, the "smoke" disappeared!

We also thought someting was wrong on the first couple of dozen drives with the reflection on the screen.

Yes, that's it, the "ghost smoke effect". If I had a dollar for every time a passenger has made a comment about thinking they saw steam/smoke...well, I'd have two or three dollars!
