David I don't know where you got the ajustment screw that was 1/4" shorter, but it didn't come out of an MGB. I measured three different year models with a micrometer and they were all the same. I had an early with the hole, early without the hole and late model rocker assm. I tried to measure from the center of the rocker shaft to the bottom of the pedestal to see if there was adifference. It appeared to be .010 difference. I'm not sure how accurate that is though as I had to guess at the center of the shaft.
