How can I tell if I have a ballast or non ballast dizzy in my car? The engine ia a 1977. I cannot read any identifying numbers to post. please make your answer simple. Thank you.

Your car came from the factory with a ballasted wire in the engine's wiring harness. It had a 6 volt coil as stock. The '74 and earlier cars used an unballasted coil that used 12 volts. RAY

I watched that Moss primer on ballasted ignitions last week. Very informative, Mr. Narrator's hands are a bit distracting though, like Thing and his brother are acting out the words.
