Nick and Elaine Chamberlain are enjoying racing an Austin Healey Sprite. They found it just a couple years ago in a Buffalo, New York area barn. They're interested to learn more about the history of this particular car, and would be very thankful for any tips. The car includes a number of later-model Midget parts, and the original logbook shows it in white (instead of red). In the past, it has worn numbers 53 and 541.

The Sprite had round rear arches - 1973 Midget maybe? Looks like the Turkey Bowl had nice weather this year! Great pictures Curtis.

Thanks Fred!

Apparently two cars were used to build one. I see more Midget... but Nick and the log-book call it a Sprite.

The weather started cold and wet, but improved all weekend. Sweatshirt weather on Sunday.

Vintage rules don't get too fussy with with continuction of certain models, Spridgets being one of them, for example, some vintage groups only allow Bugeyes to run 948, or 998s, but some groups allow the 1275 in the Bugeye. When it comes to square body Sprite and Midget, you'll see some twist, for example there never was such a thing as the RWA Sprite MKIV, but it's just a grille, so who cares, that makes it a Sprite or Midget, it's still the same car. For example my car is a 65 chassis, which would have been a 1098 car, but will have RWA rear fenders running a 1275 engine, some, most vintage rules allow you to make any Spridget a RWA car, bottom line there all pretty much the same. Most Vintage groups even allow the RB Midget chassis in vintage and run either the 1275 or 1500.

Oh, and they are Gerry, I like to tell people a Spridget is the most G forces you can get in a production based race car for under $100K, and I also tell new Spridget race drivers that they know they getting all the goodie out of a Spridget race car when they have to turn the steering wheel in the opposite direction of the corner when going thru it. :) I love me some MGBs, but a racing Spridget is the most fun you can have with your clothes on :)

Wish I hadn't read that. I've been dying to build one with a S2000 engine.
