THE SHREDDER
I know, off topic, but if you want a Tim Taylor moment, take a look at this impressive piece of machinery - I'll bet you could feed a whole MGB throught it.......

that would be cool. Be curious how it would handle the motor though. I would rather see it eat our audi. That thing needs to be put out of its misery!
I just took a couple minivans to the scrap yard. They press them flat there for transport. I have been told that they eventually get shredded so the various materials can be sorted. I wonder if this is the same machine or something different is used?
For cars they use whats called a hammer mill. it's like big sledge hammers rotating on a shaft and pummels it to bits. somehow it sorts ferrous, and non- ferrous metals, and plastics, the fluff (soft materials like foam for the seats) and even coins that might have been in the car. Amazing stuff. A company I used to work for serviced one at a local scrapyard.

I bet that makes some racket!!
Lady gave me these two vans just to be rid of them. I had to pull the gas tanks, batterys and tires. The tires look real good & will fit two of the cars I have. Took about an hour and a half on each plus the loading hauling time. Got $430.00 between the two and I still have the aluminum rims off one to scrap. Buddy of mine was saying that wasn't bad for a little time and gas. I told him after draining the tanks, I had more gas than I started with!!
And Rob, I checked under the seats for change.;) It pays to recycle!!B)
Look at the other videos on that site, they have some cars being shredded.

Probably so, but wonder what would happen if we threw some blocks of 4130 steel in there.

Why does the sick part of my brain want to see that thing eat a grand piano?

Don't park your VW Bug in the company president's spot. Watch the rollers as they reverse direction to clear jams.
that is ssssssssssssssoooooooooooooooooooo cool...I want one to play with....

Heh. Mine flashed to the movie "Fargo".
I could swear this is the same company I came across some years ago. They had the booth next to ours at a trade show in Chicago.
Just two guys, a small version of the Shredder, some pieces of wood pallets to shred, a couple of director's chairs and a cooler of beer. They's sip beer, every so often fire it up and shred something.
Last day of the show they got hammered and threw everything into the machine including the chairs.
Very satisfying watching the Xerox Docutech copier going down. Satisfying considering I'm a Canon employee.
