Went to do some things to the ugliest MG in the world today....it needs clutch slave cylinder work so I pulled to rebuild.....DPO had put a length of metal tube between piston & rod...guess that was his answer! Well, I rebuilt it properly & reinstalled it & a new hose....after quite a bit of bleeding I finally got pedal pressure....decided to start car to see if I had enough throw to allow gears to shift...
...carbs really need adjusting but I can start her by full choke & patting accelerator pedal...just as she finally began to run, the accelerator pedal fell to floor....now, this MG model doesn't use accelerator cable, it uses a series of rods with those little swivel balls on end...the last one in line from pedal to carbs broke at ball where DPO had JB Weld-ed an earlier break!
...now, I have to build a new rod! One end screws into the linkage & the other end has a fitting that clips over a ball on the linkage.....I have an old set of Solex carbs that have similar setup except both ends have balls & the rod is too long....so tomorrow I have to cut one of the Solex tubes to length & thread one end to fit into the MG's linkage....luckily the ball on the other end will snap over the MG's linkage....
...I just want to get it so I can drive to our club's "Kick Your Tires" meeting Tuesday....wonder what other DPO items I'll find?

Tony, I recently saw those ball ends at the HELP! aisle of the local auto parts chain store. Don't know if they'll have what you need, but it might be worth a shot. Triumph GT6s used 'em too.

Old Chevys had a similar arrangement, I think. Maybe you can source it at NAPA.

I bet you could cruise over to the green parts Magnette and get one off of it's linkage.

Nope, Wray....looked at the old magnette...totally different

Maybe the ball-links used in the larger radio control models for servo connection might suit your need? Ask at a local hobby shop or do a search of the net.

Tony, MGCs use a ball arrangment, if that helps. Mercedes-Benzes use them as well....
