came in at 450 .. everything to lay paint Including a cheap sprayer

locally here MAACO is avert a 299 paint,,
could have been painted in a week for299,, now i have to do the work and its a crap shoot,
could be i will produce a sorry item , perhaps otherwise,

could be that uncounted hours pushing 320, 400 and 1500 on the blocks and boards will do ?? something,,

what do you think did i make the correct choice ?
299 MAACO

Think of all the fun you'll have.

Its been my experience that those cheapo maaco paint jobs are not only orange peely, but, they generally produc lots of overspray, the bottom of the car (where you NEED the most protection) is generally not painted very well. Plus, they don't shine very well, nor last years and years.

I would much rather do it myself, and buy superior paint products that will last.

If you can spray a spray can with no runs, and follow directions well (THIS IS A MUST) then you'll be fine. If you're one of those types that immediately rips into a new box and the directions and warnings get thrown into the trash along with the packaging, then painting a car isn't for you.

Anyone can paint a car!

i suspect that 299 is just to fish one in ,,

OOOO you want the surface cleaned and the windows masked ,, well thats extra.

it is yet to be seen if i can spray a no runs no hits no errors..
i got the generic east wood urethane paint .. .. i thought about pricing a mix of the originalcolor code at a local shop but did not,, just a generic..

i think i bought all good product..

in my experience all this stuff comes with very sketchy direction .. one must know or invent it

like when i read the operators manual on a big rig ,, quote.. the engine and transmission should be shifted in the manner which all professional drivers know" end quote,,

that does not much tell you what too do when you are on the downgrade and see the wreck on the highway and need to do emergency stop.

the brakes are not gonna get you stopped . gonna have to manipulate the engine and transmission , """in the manner which all {old sdhool] [professional drivers know..

I took a 1989 Mustang GT to Maaco last year for their advertised $399.00 (nicer) paint job. It was a bit more than their el-cheapo service but at $399.00 still a good deal. When I got there the job turned into $500.00 and some change with masking and priming. It appears that the cheaper jobs do not involve primer. Anyway... $500.00 and a few days later I went back to get the car. It was flawless. I don't know how long the paint will last but for $500.00 it was damn near perfect. I don't know how familiar you are with Mustangs but the GT has the tail lights that have about 100 small, body-color louvers over them and there was zero overspray on the lights. I really couldn't have asked for a better job. If my GT were a daily driver and simply needed a new spray, I would drive it to MAACO and let them have at it. Perhaps offer a tip to the actual gun man.

Those el cheapo paint joints used to be here too.

For the money they seemed OK to brighten up an old banger.

You got a 10 foot or a 50 foot paint job, depending on how much crack the guys were on.

They had to employ a licensed painter but could use unskilled labour on all the rest....bogging up small dings/sanding/masking etc.
.....
But a decade or so ago, they changed the law and said that ALL the paint prep had to done by a licensed person or an apprentice.

The el cheapo joints closed overnight.
