MG MGB and MGB GT Tech Talk
With my planned engine swap, I may need to run an MGC hood for clearance. A stock metal one is just too expensive and hard to find, so I am thinking of going the fiberglass route. Who all sells these? I know of MorSpeed, but haven't seen really any others.
I had a C project - bought a hood from MorSpeed - about $300 or so. It looked good and was well constructed, but pretty heavy for a car that is already pretty heavy up front. I am not aware of any others, though.
Try Brian At BMC. He is a big supplier of parts to the conversion guys and a wealth of information. He sells figerglass conversion body parts. Just google up BMC. He will accept phone calls cheerfully.
Dave Craddock now manufactures a fiberglass RV8 bonnet.
I believe it is available in a "skin only" version as well as a "ready to install" version.
I have the latter.
It is a well made piece and should require very little prep before paint. Dave also reinforced the back and sides of the bonnet with some steel - my gas strut kit will function nicely with his bonnet. You need to provide the latch mechanism; the bonnet is ready to accept this piece.
Dave's bonnets are available through Brian at BMC as well as through Pete at Mantell Motorsport.

While that RV8 bonnet looks like a very well made piece, I'm not sold on the looks. Not sure if I like the small bulge as apposed to the whole hood being bulged. Do you have any pictures of it installed on your car? Also, would you be willing to measure the length of the bulge for me?

I can get a picture of one installed on an MGB - Pete's son has one on his V8 conversion.
The beginning of the bulge is 18" from the nose of the bonnet.
