Hi
I have a 74.5 MGB and my flshers are not working? I am wondering if it could be the flasher unit or the switch? Is one more likely to fail then the other? Where is the flasher unit located?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Rock your switch back and forth for 30 seconds or so - the corrosion inside, assuming there is any, may loosen.
Dan, the flasher relay is mount on the back of the center console. It is right near the switch and light.
Like Dave alluded to. I would rock the emergency flasher switch back and forth a few times and if you have some electrical contact cleaner, spray it down in as well. More often than not it is bad contacts needing a cleaning on that switch
Not sure on your year but a 77' has an inline fuse on a brown wire.
Hey Dan,
The power for the signal lights on your year comes from the 3rd fuse (green wire circuit), through the hazard light switch to the flasher unit and then off to the turn signal switch.
If you have 12vdc on both sides of the flasher unit then it's good and you need to look at the switch. If you only have power on one side of the flasher unit then the flasher is bad. If you have no power, then you need to go back and start troubleshooting from the fuse box, but everything else seems to work in your car so I suspect that's not the issue.
A quick trip to Canadian tire will get you a generic flasher unit to plug in and try to help with the troubleshooting for a few bucks. It's a good spare to have on hand anyway as it will work for the hazard lights too.
I hope this helps you out a bit.
If the emergency/hazard circuit doesn't work, neither does the indicator circuit. So check both switches and both flasher units
