they are tough but for a FAC out of vietnam they are all a piece of cake....of course FAC (forward air controllers) used smaller planes. They will however with a 747 cause one to upchuck or in some cases download..
I'll need to ask my brother about those two. Cause he went to Med school on the SABA island. I remember him telling me that he used to take a boat to saba from saint martin though but used to fly out from saint martin to the US.
We have a few dirt bush strips in the mountain valleys here in BC that are one way with no where to go if you over shoot. I think the term is box canyon.
One that comes to mind always has a tail wind on approach. The landing is uphill and the take off is downhill and into the wind. There are fir trees that are 100 feet tall 50 feet off either side of the runway.
