If it makes you feels better, I opened my heater tap today. Still took my ride tonight in short pants and a T-shirt though. Sorry I couldn't resist.

Good on you! We're up to our necks in rain here in the Pacific NW and I've had my heater on for the last month and a half!
bastard !!!
still driving mine, top down
not too bad yet with the tonneau on

This is the best answer so far! It is really miserable here in the summer. I think I'd rather be cold.
In central Ohio here, I live about 10 miles from work and I've been driving it back after lunch, with the top down lol. It's only low 60's, but not too cold actually. Oh, and I rebuilt my heater valve Monday night when I discovered a nasty leak in the O ring.
Northern arizona, 18f here last night drove to work in scrubs bundled up with the top down, i ordered a top finally yesterday, yaa!!
I really enjoyed driving through some of OH in July, sure wish I wasn't in a rental Chevy Cobalt.
Shows how much I know about Arizona. Didn't think it got that cold there.
45 when i got home from work and that didn't stop me................it SHOULD have though....just couldn't help it.
rotten oncoming winter.....
rats.
Courtney,
Did you make it to Wickham Road?
I got as far as the rest area south of Melbourne, when I got a call that my son was in a head on collision in Key West, so I made a quick u-turn I've have been at Jackson Hospital in Miami ever since :o(.
He is pretty busted up, but he'll recover
See you soon

ahhaha
there are days up here during the summer that are unbearable, fine when you are moving, but if you get stuck in traffic or at a long light, your body temperature can increase a few degrees !!!
in Florida, I would think you would have 9 months of perfect driving weather, no?
I've heard motorcycle drivers say they hate riding in Florida, guess some of the older folks can't se the bikes too well, how is it in a Midget???

I gotta do the same, maybe today

REally sorry to hear that Phil. Praying for a quick recovery. I didn't make it to Wickham either.

Sounds about right. Motorcycles have an advantage I think over the Midget (they are taller). Where I am the big 4wd trucks are oblivious. You gotta always be careful1
I'm still driving mine with top down, tonnaeu cover, heater on. With coat, gloves and a tuke, not bad at all at about 40, much below that though and it's too cold to enjoy for long.
I thought Flagstaff was closer to 7,000 ft.......................12k's UP THERE buddy. Still pretty high tho'.
FWIW, here in western Canada we've had early summer temps but ridiculous winds, and I've been working too much to enjoy the car anyway..........maybe this week end if it doesn't snow.
My favorite time to drive with the top down is in the fall when it is cold out. I turn the heater up high and zip the tonneau up over the passenger compartment. It's the best.

Rick, I agree, fall is my favorite time, and the tonneau is a must !! I just started using mine this year

Sigh... those cars are beautiful. It shouldn't be legal to continually post pictures of cars that look that good on here! ;)
60s here yesterday. Fixed a minor electrical problem on the '72 Midget, then went and got it inspected. Came home right away because I brought the wrong insurance card (middle-aged y'know). Finished the inspection all the while talking to the new manager who initially thought the car was a Triumph. Went and got an estimate on a new bodywork/paint job (3k, I R&R the trim), then took the long way home. Stopped a a red light and two young ladies in the cross walk stopped and said, 'nice car'. Got home and changed the oil (VR-1). All with the top down.
A good day.
Cheers,
Glen

All, or both?

Agreed. Strangely enjoyable at night too.
I've been watching Saturday's weather forcaste since Sunday, in the hope it will be nice enough to take the Midget out.

Should serve as inspiration Seth....

I used to live in Flagstaff...
Made network news in the last couple nights about a 15 year drought and Lake Mary nearly dried up??? Is it really that bad or is it just that Flagstaff is leeward of the Friscos...
We've had snow on the ground here in Sitka Alaska for a week. Pleasant change from the rain. I will definitely try the heater on w/tonneau cover. Back in Chicago in the '70s I drove all winter long in the Sprite, with plastic windows.
Hello All,
I live in a very northern city called Edmonton in Alberta Canada. I just bought my 72 RWA midget in late August so I have not had much time with it. However I am very determined to drive it for as long as I can. It does not have a top and the heater does not work. However that does not stop me from driving it in minus 5 degree Centigrade weather!!! I do have to wear a touque and gloves, windows up but I would not change a thing. Most people must think I am mad, but most people doen't have a midget!!

Ian, do you know that you have to turn your heater on in the engine bay? There is a valve on top of the engine, towards the back, pointing up. If you do have that open and are still not getting heat, you may need to put a different thermostat in, that's what I had to do, a 195 degree thermostat, fix my heating problem and only cost $4.
Heh. Out rorting about today in lovely 65 degF weather, perfect blue sky. It was great.
