I bought the front bearing kit from Moss and it includes a white plastic part that I assume is supposed to go between the inner (large) bearing and the seal. The problem is the seal does not seat very deeply and as I am trying to get the whole mess shimmed properly, the seal pulls out every time I pull the hub (brand new from Moss) off the axle to adjust the shim pack.
Am I doing something wrong or is this the way it should work?

After some searching I find a pdf link in the Moss catalog that gives instructions. The white ring is used for installation of the seal. The ring itself is not to be installed.
It would be nice if the kit came with the instructions saying that.....I would be done with the job by now instead of sitting in front of the puter.

Indeed, as you have figured out already, there is no plastic in the bearing assembly!
