I have a British front license plate (1976 MG) mounted directly to my front rubber bumper--the holes were there. But I have noticed some front plates are mounted below the bumper--is this non-export MG only? There is no bracket under my bumper for plate.

Is this a right hand drive car?
If so it is made for UK and like countries and would have a bracket for that style plate. Us plates as you know would take an entirely different bracket....

Lots of front plates were fit at dealerships so the "standard" really isn't.

Why should you mount the plate in the first place? The front of your car looks just fine the way it is. I live in California. We are one of the only states that require a front plate. I think we MG owners should stand up against the front plate laws. Leave it off until you get a fix it ticket and just drive the car and have fun.
