i love the look of body colored front spoilers on rb 'b's. after installing a set of vto classic 8's, i plan to lower the car 1", and was thinking that the spoiler would really complete the look.

now here lies the problem...

my wife, who is by no means a gearhead in any way at all, has taken to my 'b like a fish takes to water. she is so smitten with it she always asks on the weekends if we are going to take the "the red car," and thinks that our garage looks sad and lonely when the car is in the shop.

anyway, i told her of my plan, and she hates it. The exact quote was: "you can do anything else to the car you want, but this is the one thing that i am really passionate about."

Yikes. Are the benefits of the spoiler (other than visual) enough to push this issue? or should i concede that i will have a spoilerless car?

i guess life is pretty good when these are the problems you have to contend with :)

In your case, a spoiler has no benefits whatsoever and would just be a "spoiler".

Having met your wife, I'd agree with Chris.

Have you noticed the "new" Sebring style front valence that Moss is selling? It's not made for RB cars but with some fitting I'll bet it could be made to fit. It has the standard Sebring look with a small spoiler flared into the lower lip.

Might be something she'd go for...

Being fortunate enough to have a spouse that is 'on the same page' as you is a wonderful thing. Don't ruin it. She's your partner.

front spoiler / air dam = good, - helps reduce front wheel patter at motorway speeds, and looks cool as fook

Rear spoiler / wing = Bad - mg wont go fast enough for it to really matter, and it will spoil the lines of the car, you never see an e type or classic aston martin with a rear spoiler! and we all know the BGT is the poor mans aston!

only my opinion, its your car, you have to live with it!

I just celebrated by 34th wedding anniversary and learned at least one thing.
When she is adamant, just say "Yes dear".

Funny how words like "passionate" move into the language and back out again, ain't it?

thanks, guys... everyone gave me the answer that i was sort of expecting anyhow. albert, i especially like your idea... this looks much more subtle than a full spoiler. since my valence is a bit ragged anyhow, this might be a compromise. could also be more practical for daily driving on a lowered car for more ground clearance. does anyone have one of these mounted on a rb 'b?

david, thanks for showing me EXACTLY what i want to do, but am not allowed to :X

just kidding... beautiful car, by the way. the 550lb springs lower it 1", right? it looks so natural without appearing "slammed" like so many honda civics around here.

It really turns it into a different car...I believe it's closer to 2"?...it makes a RB look ssssooo much better...but my other RB has yet to get the same upgrades and still sits up like a dump truck. The picture should give a reference point for you.

Most of the parts catalogs say 1 1/2" to 2" lower with the 550# springs. 1" lower with the 480# springs.

Ask yourself "What would Chuck do?"

Chuck says "Be a man".

Be Coming

Go ahead, ignore your wife and put the spoiler on.

Of course, I would not want to be you when you hit the first parking curb with it.

Kelvin.

I've got a similar problem.

I want to add lightness by removing the bumpers, but SWMBO says no!

My wife knows better, last time she said no, I brought home a Tr8 anyways......

Like Bill Engval said one time............."If she aint happy......you aint happy."

On a side note.....if you "lower" your car, is it considered an upgrade or a downgrade?

Sell her on the stability at speed factor:)-D

Yeah, watch out for curbs with the ST spoiler. I'll get around to fixing it one day.

Just a personal opinion, but . . . I hate the looks of the spoiler, just does not look right on a non-race car. UGH.

Row the boat with your wife, this is not a big issue. You can always sell the car, but not the wifey . . .::o

I will leave the aesthetics up to the eye of the beholder. As for performance, I doubt you will notice any difference below about 80 MPH. If you spend a lot of time driving faster than that, then by all means, get the spoiler.
