Can anyone tell me what sizes I need for capping the fuel tank port that goes to the expansion tank in the hatch / trunk of my GT?
I'm getting some ugly fuel smell and this is one of the pieces that needs to be removed from the equation. The PO has the expansion tank venting through the floorboard of the hatch into open air, so there is no need for the tank. I am also not running a charcoal cannister (yet). I checked Bhive and Brit-tek for replacement hoses but they do not stock them.
The gas cap is drilled on metal piece near the center on the inside also.
I also need to check the fuel lines from the tank to the carbs, any insight on how to look for fuel leakage along the lines? I'll provide some pictures of the lines too.
Replacing the carbs today too, so stuck floats will not be a part of the fuel stink equation I hope.
Thanks for all your help,
Brett

A surprising amount of fumes come out of the overflow vent. The best thing to do is replace the separation tank (in the trunk) and feed it to the evaporation cannister as per specifications. At the very least, run a hose to the outside.
There is no need to get factory replacement hoses. Simply use the old connectors and fit new fuel line hose to them using hose clamps. The fuel lines from the tank to the carbs are mostly metal - unless they are badly damaged they won't leak. Depending on year, etc., one or more of the hoses connecting the pump maybe rubber. Again, you can use standard fuel line hose if you retain the original connectors. The pressure with an SU fuel pump is very low.
