Hello All,

Well, Its time for a new fuel tank for "Eliza" (my '71 Mark II roadster) and was looking for any input on the best unit out there.

Authenticity is not a concern since she is a driver but I have seen prices all over the place and wanted to get some input on the best values out there. I have no problem doing the work myself and was leaning toward the Victoria British Fuel tank "kit " option.

Any help would be appreciated.....................

Is your current tank completely shot? I cleaned out the '67 tank and "slushed" it with KREEM. Worked a charm and sealed up a few little pin-holes (the reason for doing it). This was about 17 years ago, still happy.

If it has worse problems, a radiator shop may be able to repair it.

If you do purchase a new tank, I would recommend taking it to a radiator shop and having a drain added. New tanks are remiss in this area.....and you don't know how nice they are to have until you find you need one and don't have it.

Too true. At least the level assembly is on the side instead of on top!

Its pretty well on her way out mike.

There is heavy sediment/rust clogging the fuel pick up as well as significant leakage around the fuel neck on the top of the tank. I'd rather not mess with a fuel leak situation so close to the exhaust pipe that runs past the side of the tank.

Good point,

The tank has a drain in it now and it was cool to be able to use it to try to clean the rust and crud out. you won't miss it till its gone.......

If you buy new check to see if it has baffles, I believe the Spectra tanks built in Canada do not have any baffles don't know about the others.

Who is selling heritage tanks, do they have the baffles but no drain plug?

Moss does, IIRC? Check with Chris Roop also - I got mine from him (tow-truck damage) and it does have baffles. No drain plug, but it's a fine idea.
