That's funny.
Perry was a very nice man in real life. He lived in Jupiter, FL as did Burt Reynolds. You'd run into Perry anywhere. Just like a normal guy out shopping, buying gas, having lunch or buying a sub at the local sub shop. He always had time for his fans.
Having lived in Jupiter and also surrounding areas I'd run into the likes of Dom Deluise, Charles Nelson Reilly, Joe Namath, Bryant Gumbel, Burt Reynolds, Loni Anderson and Perry Como all the time. Never did see Tom Cruise even though he had a house there too. It was an interesting little town home of a working lighthouse from before the Civil War.

Perry Como lived in Lloyd Harbor on Long Island when his TV show was being produced in New York. My aunt was a huge fan of his and would go on and on about him whenever she met up with him at the local Bohacks (a now defunct supermarket chain). He always had time for her.
