Hi All!
I have posted here many times over the past year in a half since I picked up a 1977 MG Midget 1500.
When I got the car we started it once to ensure everything ran and then immediately torn everything
out of the engine bay. We disassembled everything replaced all the worn parts sandblasted and
repainted everything and then resealed everything. Also added an electric fan, ignition and fuel pump.
While we were at it we also replaced the clutch and the master and slave cylinders. This all took nearly
a full year of weekend work, but alas we could not get the clutch to bleed no matter what we tried. So
the car traveled up to a freind in MA ( thanks to veloz media for the ride in their race trailer) to see if he
Could do it, but alas he had no luck either, but knew of a MG in NH. About 2 months ago she took to the
Trailer one last time to travel to Brit Bits in Rye, NH. They worked out the final kinks and was ble to get
the clutch working. They also did a number of odds and end to ensure she would be safe to drive home
to CT. So now I sit ride up to Rye, NH to drive my little MG project for the first time. I am SOoooooooo excited.
I figured I would share my excitement with the group.
Wish me luck!
Jess

It's great to see all the work finally pay off, congratulations! wear your seatbelt, make sure your cell phone is charged, and keep a blanket and bottle of water in the car :)
So it was not without its challenges. I believe the stock alternator is not strong enough for the electric fuel pump, fan and ignition. The battery I got ~ 6 months ago does not seem to have much left to it. I needed a strong jump to start it. It ran great for the first 35 minutes, and then although it still runs great...it DID shower my fiancees car with some oil. Keeping my fingers crossed that I can make it the 200 miles back to home over the next few days. I may bite it and go get another battery.
I'm sorry to hear you had an issue. A little tinkering here and there and she'll be fine.
pull into an auto zone , they can test both the battery and alternator in the car.
