you would be better off removing that water choke and putting a manual one on it ,
better yet remove the whole combined manifold and replace an old intake exhaust and intake with dual SU's,
replacing the Z-S with an old SU HIF 6 is another option or a new SU HIF 44,
if you insist on the Z-S with the water choke for originality reasons i expect someone here can help you
otherwise junk the Z-s ..
they are a real headache to me

micha
well i plan on doing that one day in the future but money is tight right now and the best option is to keep it original and how would you change it to a manual choke? altho i would prefer to stick with the water
first offcongrats on the b now for the carb question your in the rite place but wrong forum try the trader forum for your parts needed someone here will have one
there are problems with that autowater choke
see the reference Technical Information (MGB 7)
there are kits available
but moss wants a fortune for them ,

does not look like that part should cost so much to me , i think you could get a SU HIF 6 cheaper than that and it would work better, there are some real experts here maybe they will give help
i have one of those old Z-S in the shed but i expect it to be in the same condition
Zenith/Stromberg Automatic Choke Unit
Because of the problems associated with this unit, namely gasoline leaks, carburetor fires, excessive fuel ingestion into the engine, and the resulting in catalytic converter "glow" syndrome and subsequent meltdown, we recommend the fitment of a manual choke assembly. Don't throw away your old unit. Your particular State will, in all probability, require that it be refitted as part of their smog inspection program.
no worry about tossing it alabama is to backwards to care what you do to your car no testing whatsoever lucky us
and i cleaned and replaced every seal gasket and o ring on the thing including all on the choke assymbly so hopefully i wont have any problems and im going to post in the wanted section (or whatever its called here) now
