I got a set of twin carbs, did I pay a fair price?
I paid $97 for it all. Any recommendations?

looks like a deal to me. now either rebuild them or have Tom do it
Very good deal!! Clean 'em all up, rebuild carbs, check shafts, get your local muffler shop to build a 2" aluminuzed exhaust with a 24" cherry bomb in middle & an 18" bomb in rear....drive car!
Hmmm, that exhaust manifold looks like an MGA part, not a B part.
Based on what I've seen for used carbs etc. , I like this price. You got a lot of STUFF! Have a ball! I've spent 97 bucks on much less, I'm sorry to say.
Definitely not the B cast manifold I'm familiar with. It appears to be a three-into-one arrangement; all the B manifolds I've seen are three-into-two....
Know waht? I just looked real close at the setup....it almost looks like Midget stuff......or, maybe MGA....
Tony, I have a 73B that needs a new muffker. Will my local muffler shop understand the terminmalogy you used and be able to make one easily for me? I guess I'm asking if this type of muffler work is common place.
tia.
The carbs and intake manifold are MGB items since the studs are at an angle. Midget carbs are straight up and down. But I think the exhaust is from a Midget or MGA.
Stu....they'll know...'cherry bobm' is just an old hot rodder term for a particular type of glasspack muffler...now, get ready for the great sound of a sports car when you do it....oh, pick out a nice stainless tip for your pipe...&, have them fit everything tight to the body!
Tony's right. That's a good setup, although when I did something similar, I skipped the forward muffler. I was willing to put up with quite a bit of noise, and it sounded great. Also a very cheap way of doing things.
But he's also right... make sure they route it tight to the body, especially at the rear... if it comes down to far as it passes the axle, you'll drag it. A lot.
The carbs look right, but you definitely have an MGA exhaust manifold there. Pick up a cast iron MGB manifold or an MGB header. You should have no problem selling the MGA manifold. The outlet flanges tend to break off, so there is a reasonably strong market for good ones. You could certainly use the "A" manifold and have your local muffler shop bend up a system to match, but it is somewhat restrictive for the 1800 and you'll give away a couple of HP to a good, 3-2-1 stock "B" manifold and down pipe.
Do the3 carbs have number tags still on them? Looks like someone chopped off the downpipe so as to not deal with stud removal. Are those bolts?
