Spent a great day getting to know some East Coast MG'er ~ hosted and arranged by David C.- HobieTrax.

About two hours north of NYC and around some of the prettiest Connecticut coastline. Even pasted by Paul Newman's house - even though I missed it cause I was having too much fun revving into the turn. Ended with a nice BBQ, some good talk and a couple of parrots. Even got the top up before a CRAZY ten minute downpour.

Well, just wanted to say thanks to David for putting this together.

Glad you could make it. It was a great day, good driving weather, scenic roads with turns and good friends to share it with.

Glad someone got some pictures. I was wondering if anyone got caught with their top down when it started to rain.

Hi David & Carl,

I had enough sense to put up the top as soon as I reached route 33.
I had the back window zipped out but even in the torrential downpour, not much water got in.
I found that you cannot zip up the back window while driving in a storm and belted in.

Thanks David for the hospitality.

I'm planning a Fall route for the end of September. I'll post when I complete it.

Sorry I had to miss this one. I was there in spirit - spent the day washing and waxing my MG then took a drive around some of my favorite local roads before heading off to my niece's wedding. Sounds like you had a great day. Any more pictures? Looking forward to September, Bruno.

sorry, no more photos. The great twisty roads made it tough to shoot, next time I'll try to bring my copilot.

I pulled over and got the top up before the rain - just in time. Also found some minor leaks to fix. Woo Hoo!!

Sounds like fun! Bruno what locations were you looking to run in the fall?

Daniel,
I was thinking of meeting in Cortlandt Manor NY just off the rte 6/202 traffic circle.

Here's a link to the location.

http://maps.google.com/maps?sourceid=navclient&ie=UTF-8&rls=GGLG,GGLG:2006-15,GGLG:en&q=camp%20smith%20ny&um=1&sa=N&tab=wl

There's a gas station/convenience store there where we can meet.

From there we take rte 6 up the mountain (lots of twists and turns) past the Bear Mtn Bridge onto rte 9D along the hudson past cold spring and over the Newburgh Beacon bridge.

Down rte 9W onto rte 218 (curvey, windy road down the mountain). Make a U turn and the base of the mountain and drive 218 back up into the Hamlet of Cornwall where we'll stop for lunch.

After lunch, we'll drive some backroads through orange county and end on route 17 near the Red Apple Rest.

This is my idea but I'm open to suggestions.

The date I have in mind is Saturday Sept. 27th with a rain date of the 28th.
