MGB: Ground strap where???

Hello, it would appear I never put the earth ground strap back on my B when I put the new motor and trans in.

I vaguely recall the strap being mounted to the transmission and transmission bracket, not the motor. I notice that some B's have the strap on the drivers side mount to the frame. On my 74 1/2 MGB there is not place to mount to from engine mount to frame. So I really think it was supposed to go on the transmission. Anyone have any idea where or any pics of this?

Thanks!!!

Jeremy,
The ground strap just fits under each side of one of the mounting bolts on the driver side engine mount. Later cars with the doughnut type mounts had the ground on the tranny cross-member. My car actually has both!

Round engine mounts or rectangular?
Try the search feature, I've seen pictures of trans. ground strap. Some use 2 straps!

Thanks guys! Yeah, I have the round mounts. I think the strap was only on the trans.

Tried the search feature and google images and got nothing.

Thanks

Searched in the forum? I just looked, there are plenty but Clay nailed it. If on the trans, all that is needed is to pick 2 bolts that bridge (isolate) the rubber mount.

(I know there's a pic there somewhere)

Yes, searched on the forum. I have very little luck finding anything here. I guess I am just too use to VBulletin. A move to that software would make life here much easier for all IMO.

Anyway, I went ahead and bolted directly to the trans end of the trans mount and then back to and through the cross member.

Thanks again.

FYI, Searched for everything from "earth ground" "earth strap" "ground strap", etc., and found NO results... Its hit or miss here with the outdated forum software. Don't get me wrong, I find the help useful and members are great. The forum itself is very difficult to follow, and not well organized compared to other forum software packages. I moderate about 15 forums ranging from VB to phpBB and I've found this one to be the most backwards in terms of organization and features.

Again, not a knock on anyone... It's been around a long time, and I'd imagine making the change to something more modern day would be a bit cumbersome. I guess I will have to get more involved to get used to it.

Thanks again... Ground on.

I'm sure you got it right but I found these.

Never hurts to have too many ground straps. I've got the engine grounded and a strap from the gearbox to the frame on both cars.
