the gas tank.

I found this while I had the rear wheels off to inspect/ adjust the brakes:



The splitter (arrow) looks like this:



How long before it wears through the gas tank? Or maybe I should just smear some grease on there and call it good.
I know the early type was attached to the axle, but I think this kind has to be free to move.

What to do?

What year is Suzette again? It shouldn't be rubbing in any case. I think the routing may be in question.

The best answer is to put some foam insulation around the cables. This is very commonly used in production vehicles nowadays because everything is routed very close to something else. You can use stuff from home depot for water line insulation or something just like it.

Yeah,

The tension on mine, even when disengaged, would not have allowed the cable up that high. Something seems amiss.
