Couldn't resist to show off. Had a wonderful day. I will post a link to pics when I get home Monday.

Both guys are great. Approachable and friendly. Especially Mike. Just a couple of car guys enjoying the day. Or as Mike put it, "I'm a paid tourist." :)

If you see this Mike, it was a real pleasure to meet you.

Mike Joy. From Fox Nascar and Speed Channel. And I'm sure other endeavors as well.
But most importantly, a MG guy and a member of this forum who posts regularly. MG Midget owner.

Hey, I've seen those guys somewhere before. Sheesh, I can't remember where it was though.

That one guy in the blue, he looks really familiar!

Ya, this is the week, isn't it?

Tomorrow is my better halfs birthday, and it happens to come on this same week every year. I can't figure out why? Unfortunately, druelling on vintage cars all week and walking 78 miles isn't her cup-o-tea!

Its too bad she wasn't born a week earlier!

B

Looks like fun!

The blue #31 belongs to Scott Brown, next to it was a red MGA twin cam and next to it was Gary Anderson's red #5 MGA. Also racing MGs was Al Moss MGTC, Pete Theilander MGNE, Don Martine with the Von Neiman MGTD, and several other MGs of various years.

That blue is a great colour on an MGA.

I am awfully jealous of you guys who are experiencing Monterey (especially ON the track).

I was thinking of you all while I was at the track today but our local track didn't quite have the same atmosphere.

As for the lovely blue #41 ... maybe when my sponsor's stickers come off at the end of this year (although money for another year would be wonderful, of course) do you think my blue 'B could be the younger cousin of the blue 'A?

Nah, probably not :-)

I'm glad you asked the question, James. Now I don't have to do so. I didn't know who Mike was, either. Now, Jay, I'd love to meet him.

Rob, congrats on a great day..also for you who don't know Mike, he has been
everything from a pit reporter in the early days of televised NASCAR to the FOX
network's NASCAR coverage anchor now. Mike is also on the floor at the Barrett Jackson auctions on Speed, providing the up close observations.

I'll confess, for any self-proclaimed car guy, Monterey is the most unbelieveable excperience available in America. Some of the folks I sent time talking with include:

Danny Sullivan, Eddie Cheever, Bobby Rahal, (Indy winners)

Alan Jones, Patrick Tambay, John Watson, JP Jarier (Formula 1 winners)

Derek Bell ( 5 time LeMans winner)

Jean Todt (F1 Ferrari team principal)

George Follmer (Trans Am Champ)

Bob Earl, Rick Knoop, Breuce Canepa (Camel GT)

Lanky Foushee (crew chief for Follmer and Tullius)

Patrick Dempsey (ask your wife)

Jay Leno (Americas's number one car guy)

Scott Brown and Rob Park (MG Experience)

And space does not permit listing all the Brit cars that are in the paddock or parked up on the hillside. Someday, you have to come to the Monterey Historics.

OK...I'm officially jealous.

I love meeting and talking with other enthusiasts, celebrity or not.

Sounds/looks as though it was a GREAT day!

You should make a point to go, Rick. Not just the Concours, but more especially, as Rob has shown, the Historics at Laguna Seca. I've been twice to both and do not regret the time, money, or travel spent. Besides, you are right in the midst of one of the most beautiful places on the CA coast and not far from other things in CA you might be interested in seeing.

I just got back and unpacked. (including my AutoArt MGBGT model...I didn't buy a program or shirt!) :)

I experienced another side of the week for the first time this year and that was the auctions. My G/F insisted on finding a bakery in downtown Monterey she had visited last year and that put us downtown Friday afternoon. You can look at the RM auction stuff for free as well as the cars parked on the street. It's a zoo, but a lot of fun and free.

We caught one of the 50's concept vehicles being towed in. 1954 Cramer Comet. Estimated value 250-300,000. For crazed rough paint, body and cobbled up dashboard. (see below)

And another surprise was the Sebring B that was run at the March meet at Laguna Seca for sale. Good thing banks were closed by then.

Two more. I will post a link to other pics. Let me know if I'm overdoing it. I could write a book on what I saw this week.
