When checking out hardtops, some sellers mention seams are bad. Does moss or smoeone have hard top seam kits, or do you just try to fit material that works, and "rig" it?
Also, are the hard top latches difficult to come by?
Thanks
Chris

IIRC, the front latches are the same as a soft top frame. The side mounts are hard to find.
The hardtops I've seen have all been one piece, so I'm not sure what they mean by seams. Seals are often in need of work.
Yeah, Chris, I mean seals.
But the latches of the soft frames are the same?, huh, that makes sense.
I can only comment on the factory hard tops. Seals can be found with out too much trouble. The latches are for sure just like the convertible ones. Mounting hardware can be purchased through The Roadster Factory.

Rob
Guys, very helpful!!!!
Now, if I have a 77B, what years fit the 77(75-80?), and if the seller does not know what the heck he has, how can you tell what top is what, without putting it on top of the car?
i.e. I'm in the valley, over the hill from SF. I'm pretty sure the ol' B would make it, but it would be easier to pick up a top in a more trustworthy vehicle, if ya know what I mean.
Guys, very helpful!!
75 to 80 years fit a 77 B? If you don't put it on the car to fit, is there any way you can tell the correct top?
Some people aren't sure of the year top they have.
thanks
Chris
The year of the top should make no difference. I have had the factory one from my '69 on my '74 a couple of times. The only places mine attach is at the back bar, windshield and the tonneau slots. I doubt any of the after market ones go on any differently. None of the snaps are used at all.
Hope that helps.
Cheers,
Rob
I have been looking for a source for seals for a number of years. My top was manufactured by Dynaplastics, and I have been unable to find any that fit my top correctly. In the meantime, I have been using some foam tape along the sides and back. The front seam gets duct tape when the weather is wet.
Kind of frustrating, but what can you do.
I guess my input would be before you buy the top, find out the manufacturer and see if seal kits are available.
Ron, I also have a Dynaplastics top(the one with the portholes), and I can not find a rear top to body seal. McGregors said if I send them a sample of the seal on my top, he could find or make it. But there was no seal when I got it. If you find anything, please PM me where. Thanks, Lloyd
parts for genuine factory hard tops are relatively easy to come by. Including glazing.
parts for aftermarket tops are much less available.
McGregor has Snug Top seals, but they are very expensive.
for the others, you probably won't find them. And for the ones with curved rear glass...don't break it! You won't get new.
That's why factory Hard tops are worth a lot more than aftermarket tops.
They also look better, I think. No fake pebble-grain vinyl, wierd window port holes, etc.
