Gentlemen; does any one know what type of headers these are?? They came with a MGC gt I recently bought and need to know if they are worth using.

No idea where they come from but look ok, would dump the Y and run two single pipes to rear.
They look SS !
2" carbs as well !
All in a auto.
The car must have had some money spent on it whats the rest like.
Shaun; thanks the set up looks cool alright, however would love to go to 3 carbs soon. the rest of the car is in for the body work and suspension, should be ready for spring. i love your setup with the webers ,but i think for my budget the 3 HS6s will do I will post pics later
regards
Dan.
Look at that setup again really closely, Dan.
Shaun's got a she-weeet EFI setup (that just happens to look like triple 45 DCOE's).
Scott your right, good on you Shaun.I am going to complete this set up and see how she goes.the cam has been upgraded and pushrods as well. anything else i should do while the engine is out??
Dan
Is there any way to find out if this style header ( from ~1982) was designed to fit a stock Y pipe?
Paul
I think what you have is a adapted header home made ish! it will work if you want to keep the original style exhaust. However the pipes are very uneven in length, the Maniflow one is not quite as bad. Mine is a modified one for webers it comes out of the head a bit and I mean a bit straighter , the SU's require a bit more clearance on the inlet header. I would clean yours and paint with high temp paint if your not going to change save yourselve a few pence.
Dan
I like the three SU setup , I have a roadster being done now. I will keep the twin 1'3/4 for now but will go for injection again its by far the best thing I've done. I like the car to look stockish on the outside but mechanical side I'm not one for keeping a dinasaur without some evolution. The enjoyment is driving them n tinkering!.
What cam grind are you going for have not really thought to much yet,Piper did a nice job on my other C a reworked 649 which it to much for a road car.
This engine will have only a few mods , I have a ported head ready, will lighten the flywheel fit a ATI damper (ready for EFI trigger) new SS header from Falcon(UK), mild cam 718! , 123tune dizzy for now. New AE pistons rather than stock county.
Scott
Now how about EFI for you!
Maniflow is ex dowton employee, Dowton as it is /was no longer exsists.
I will get a SS (stainless Steel)one from the MGOC which Falcon (UK)make for them, The maniflow one is better flow wise but not for longevity.
Just throwing my Maniflows up here for archival purposes, in case someone's searching for headers in the future.

As far as EFI goes, I've got an HS6 I'm putting together and have committed to the next run of Gary's manifolds. so will be playing with the triples. I've got a full sized station wagon with an LT1 I play with and am trying to get into the 13's in the quarter, so don't mind playing with carburation on this one :)
Doug Smith and others say stainless manifolds are not up to the task. Too fragile material...may explain the "large" lump Danny posted...compensating for expansion/vibration. Were I you I would check to see if MGOC really uses Falcon. When I inquired recently, Falcon did not make a Stainless mani only DoubleS. I am pretty sure MGOC carry DoubleS only.
Kirk your right MGOC is SS , was talking to falcon maybe thats whats on my mind.

ATI makes a damper for this engine, or did you have one custom built?
