The headlight switch on my 73 Midget seems to have disintegrated - the rocker is flopping loosely and you can feel the rest of the switch loose behind the dash.
My question (actually 2 questions) is: 1) how do I remove the switch from the dash? and 2) is there any way with a multimeter to check a new switch before installing it (I picked up a used one at Carlisle last weekend).
A third question just ocurred to me, too - what wires go where on the light switch? The one I bought has 3 lugs and is supposedly for a 73 Midget.
Thanks in advance.

I had to replace the heater fan switch on my 1969 midget for the same reason, the rocker flopping. The rocker is the switch, the plastic surround it is the part attached to the dash. The rocker can be knocked back through and the surround can then be removed without destroying the dash covering. Of course, disconnect the battery cause those leads are hot.
About the connections on the headlight switch. I have four blades, only three are used. Top two (red and blue) and bottom (brown for power).
Doug, Thanks for the reply.... I know it's only spring and I'm working on the heater!!! but I just got the car and I'm trying to address all the issues at some point and this will be one of them. I'll verify the wire connections for my year and I was wondering about the best method for removal.. it apprears to be a tight swieeeese where the switch is located... I figured there's a procedure for change out.
Thanks again for your help!
Don
