Hello All...

I purchased a HIF4 Carb that was in pieces...I have rebuilt the carbs but wouldn't you know it the most simplist thing I can't figure out. What hole on the choke cam lever does the actual lever fit into. There is a round one and a smaller square and a larger square. Hope fully I have described it right. I can't seem to find a pic close enough to tell.
Thanks,
Jeff

Mine are apart right now for rebuild but from the pics it looks like it should line up in line with the starter valve shaft.

Mark,
It's the cam lever that is attatched to the starter valve I'm refering to. If you look on that cam there are several places you could put the lifting lever. In which hole does the lifting lever go into the cam lever?
Thanks

I misunderstood your question. See pic below. That should answer your question.

If you need any other similar pics send me a PM with your email. I took a bunch so I could put mine back together correctly.

I was going to post this same question, eventually.

Recently, when installing a pair of HIF4's on my '80 B, I confronted the same question. Namely, does the choke linkage go into the smaller or larger of the 2 rectanglular holes?

I looked at my '72B/GT and found that I had used the larger holes when I installed them, a couple of years ago. I wanted to check what I did on the '74 B but it is tucked into a corner for another few weeks.

I mounted the carbs on the '80 using the small holes. When I dig out the '74, I'll know which position is in the 'majority'.

This said, I wonder if it makes any difference. Both the '72 and '80 idle well and 'go' when asked.

The smaller rectangular hole.

Make sure that when the linkage is installed that the NUTS are UP.

Ditto on the throttle link.

Barry,
Mark (proudfoot) another member sent me a few pics and it shows it in the small square hole, so you have it right.
I thank you for posting a reply.
