[Suggestion: turn off the sound because the background music is distracting and is not music of the era around 1906.]
This film is identified as being taken between 1905 and 1909, but recent research by transit experts suggests that it was done possibly on Monday, April 16, 1906 or Tuesday, April 17, a day or two before the earthquake that would greatly alter this urban landscape. Watch the traffic and the chances people took when crossing the street. Street accidents were endemic throughout the US as the country changed with the advent of the horseless carriage. The cable cars that are visible were running at a predictable 9.2 MPH. Horses moved slowly on city streets too. The automobile could reach speeds of 20 MPH. Some early autos had the steering wheel on the right before it was standardized in the US to be located on the left.
[P.S. I can not locate a source for the above commentary, so take it with a grain of salt.]

Keep the old flicks coming.
Especially anything you find on assembly lines or making of parts for cars or bikes .
I have a projector and a big screen which I set up outside my winnebago and I save all these old flicks and show them for the guys at swap meets while we have a beer on the camping night before.

Thanks pooch, and while I could probably "swing" over, I'd be hard pressed to be able to bring my swap bits.......:eyeroll:
