I use an artificial sheepskin mitt when washing my cars. You can backflush it and get the dirt and grit off it. In a perfect world, maybe. I just left a 2 inch scar in the clearcoat of my 71 bgt, while washing it with a mitt. Still haven't found the grit or pebble that was the culprit. What a bummer! You folks be careful when washing your little cars. Today, is the 1st time in my life I've scratched a car while washing it. Hope I don't break the wing mirror off when I wax her.

I know the feeling, Sam. Easier to do than undo. I will not go to any of the fundraiser carwashes because the kids doing the washing just don't understand how to wash a car without ruining the paint. The mit I use on my cars gets washed in the washer every time it gets used. If I see my wife drop it on the ground and start to reuse it again without washing it, things get real bad around the Masterman household!

I keep a non-synthetic for the MG and have at work, some of the syn style for the trucks. There is a big difference. Just also rememebr to use lots of water and keep reloading the mitt with fresh soapy water.

I wash my cars with a soft car wash brush. It doesn't hold anything and cleans around lights, trim, and in cracks like nothing else. Just watch it around mirrors, but I have a very soft "fender" brush for that. I once fixed an airplane windshield, (sanded and polished), some dude had washed with a wash mit that had a metal drill shaving in it. Talk about a job! I made some good money off that one and still saved the guy about $800.00.

Me too John!! I always use a soft brush!! I don't think that you can scratch a car with one of those!!!!
