And here I just thought people were dying for Walmart's $4/$10 prescriptions.

Nothing surprises me much anymore.

Well, I think if it helps people of lessor means have a more dignified service then great. I really like many of the pet urns.

Why not? People are simply dying to have one.

I likw the adjustable bed idea. Comfort is important. I wonder if one can go in and test fit?

I just noticed on that site that one can " Be the first to rate and review this product " ---------- I do wonder how that is going to happen and should we value that opinion ;)

I'm only surprised to see how much media attention this is getting. Why not, WalMart sells everything else. I can't wait to see them at Costo and can see people in the checkout line now. :eyeroll:

Too bad they don't have layaway anymore.

If you have had the un-forunate experience to bury a loved one, then you know how expensive it can be. Im not a Wal Mart fan but id like to know how much mark up there is on coffins. The way i understand it the funeral home orders them from the dealer, what there cost?

I can't wait to tell the hubby's Brother ( who is an Undertaker ) about this. Think I'll call him in the morning :)

I used to work next door to a mortuary. Gal I worked with was from Indiana - she said her father worked for a company there that made coffins. Every time a truck pulled up from that company, she'd say "That's where my daddy works!"
Apparently the mortuary was buying directly from the manufacturer.

I plan to be cremated - no coffin, vault or plot. Throw my ashes into the ocean and leave more for charity.

Hey if you can save a buck these days, why not? Funeral Homes have been overcharging and really cleaning up for decades. The last time I drove to Florida I was behind a semi hauling caskets. I can't remember the name of the casket company. I think you can also buy them factory direct on line.

Who's to say that funeral directors don't sneak back later, dig up the grave, open the cement vault take the casket back and just dump you in the vault. Clean it up and re-sell it again. Hum, sounds like a good story line for a book. They sometimes lower the casket into the ground, sometimes not. Who sticks around to even see if they fill in the grave with the casket in place?

I showed my brother this and the first thing he said was, "does it come in camo?".

Hey! I take offence to your reference to funeral directors. I'm a cemetery manager, and we treat our job with due reverence and consideration. We would never consider interfering with the wishes of the family regarding their loved one. All interments, from arrival of the casket to final relaying of the sod, are done in a professional and supervised manner.

One certain cemetery in Chicago certainly does not follow that line of thinking....

I've never met a "poor" undertaker. Must be great work if you can get it!

It was the "Bill me later" option I thought was a deal clencher.

Pete.
