I have a guy that has an engine he wants to sell me, but I don;t know what MG model it's out of. I have some numbers off the block, but need help figuring out what MG model the engine came out of and what size it is . . . any help would be greatly appreciated!

John,
If the water tap/drain on the motor is in front of the intake manifold on the right side of the motor, it is from a TD or TF. If the tap/drain is under the intake/exhaust manifold, it is from a TC......

That looks like a 'B' series engine. I'm certain it's not any T type engine.

That IS a B series engine, not an XPAG or XPEG that is used in the T series cars. Look on the opposite side of the engine and you will a large number cast into it. If the number is 1500, the engine is a 1500cc MGA engine, if the number is 1800, it is a 1800cc MGB engine. Some people have put these engines in T series cars, but it require a lot of modification to make it fit - among other things the inlet and exhaust is on the opposite side of the engine from the XPAG - That's just for starters (it would be a travesty to put this engine in a TC).
Cheers,

Owen and Dave are correct. It's a "B" series engine. Not something you want to try and fit in a TC.

Looks like an early B engine, as the head doesn't appear to have any air manifold holes. Early to mid 60s maybe. I agree with the rest, please don't put that engine in a T series car. JMHO. PJ
