here we captured someone, moved him around, tortured him, then set him free

are we safer because of this?

At least we held the line and forced the trial in absentia. I am very concerned that the Obama changes to treaties and other international issues would result in a much different outcome. Obama has indicated his support for international trials and giving up some sovereign rights.

richard, would you be OK with Italy practicing rendition on these convicted criminals?

if it's OK for us to do, I assume you would be OK with Italy doing it as well?

Joe, the difference would be that if Italy asked us to arrest the perp we would as a factor in the war on terror. Italy told us to pound sand because they did not want to take a risk. Do you believe that the CIA would undertake a kidnapping in a Western Country if they did not have to. Get real.

Joe, i put the issue in context and that is a dodge for you. What would you have done after Italy told you no, and you are the decision maker.

I would not practicing rendition as the leader of America

we were wrong, we illegally captured a person, we tortured a human being, then set him free

way to go richard, keep defending that

Joe, where did it say we tortured him, he said we tortured him. That is what I would say based on the media interest. What would you expect him to say. Egypt would not let him go to the trial but he is not in prison or any other restraint. If the Egyptians tortured him he isn't saying much about that. They might call him out on the facts. Did we use the EIT, then it was not torture. Keep it straight.

Maybe what he could do is tell Osama Bin Laden that he told the CIA everything but they did not torture him they just asked nicely and promised a vacation spot in Cairo. Osama may not think that is the proper way for a jihadist to act.

EIT is to torture, as what freedom fries are to French fries....
