MGB: in the words of Monte Python, Now for something completely different

I could be interested in your feelings and thoughts concerning the results of the political discussions/arguments/statements that we have been tossing around here lately.

Particularly, what are your thoughts on having said what you have said and having to deal with the repercussions from the social/thought/conduct/police and other government agencies?

Do you think that "The Great 'Bot In The Sky" will comb through all of our posts and pluck the ones that it disagrees with for further action?

Do you think that in your lifetime you will hear the sound of jack boots or see the sight of an FBI or SS badge?

Do you think that something strange will happen to your employment circumstances?

These are just starter questions folks. Please feel free to add what you like along with any answers to the above.

Oh heck, I forgot. Those of you who are "prudent" and/or afraid will probably not dare jump into this one. LOL

Jack:

That is even scary to contemplate!

But, to answer the questions...it could happen under a socialist regime.

Are we sure it hasn't happened in the past? i.e.: During the Viet Nam protest era.

Have we ever asked ourselves why there are no big time anti-war protests going on now? To answer my own question...probably because there is no draft.

Dennis, scary or not it is already going on for commercial purposes. It would be a piece of cake for Langley to pull a lever and gather all the info they wanted, that is assuming that they haven't already. :-)

See how scary a REAL adversarial government could be? Just the threat of the situation would have most folks running for cover and hiding under their beds.

I am still interested to see who responds here. Everyone has to have an opinion one way or another, so if there are no responses I will just have to figure that everyone buys at least the possibility of the idea and has decided to keep their face shut out of fear.

Do you think that "The Great 'Bot In The Sky" will comb through all of our posts and pluck the ones that it disagrees with for further action?

Will the "Great Bot in the sky" come through here and check what was said by who, I don't believe that it will unless they are given reason to. I do know that everything said on the internet is free reign and can be legally checked by anyone because it is claimed as "public domain". I also know that what would be looked for should not be that which is said on this forum, I have yet to see anyone calling for a revolution or overthrow, if that was being called for I feel that many of us would have to worry, as we associate with the people. However if they were to came after anyone for what was said on here, the problem would be much worse than imagined, the only way to come after those of us who post on here would be to suspend the Bill of Rights and the Constitution, and that would be cause me more fear that anything else they could do.

Do you think that in your lifetime you will hear the sound of jack boots or see the sight of an FBI or SS badge?

Had to google "jackboots", but I would say that if the government were to be coming after citizens for things said on message boards, then this would be a very real possibility, they would be sending the FBI out to act as a national police force to keep the people under control and not allow those with a dissenting opinion to speak out. This would also require a suspension if the Constitution and should drive the American people to protest and revolt, but would probably be met with apathy, as everyone feels the need to say "It's someone else's problem.

Do you think that something strange will happen to your employment circumstances?

If you mean will internet actions cause employment problems, this is already a reality for many individuals my age with the advent of social-networking sites such as facebook and myspace. Colleges offer seminars on what is seen as acceptable to have on one's site, even going so far as to ban student-athletes from having a site altogether, as employers can, will, and do look at them to determine whether to look at you further or not. Do I know people who have lost out on a potential job because of what they have up? Sure, I also know people who refuse to remove pictures and comments because they like remembering the times they had making them. If this question were meant more in the "will one lose their job because of what they post on sites such as these", then I would hope that the answer is no, but i believe that the reality is that it already does and will more so in the future.

I obviously am at a different stage in my life than most who will be responding, and I also look forward to the answers of others. I must say that much of what I typed has a distinct ring of 1984 to it. That raises my concern more than anything.

I have no opinion on this or other matters. None, that's for the record. I agree with whatever the Bot says..

jack asked:

"Particularly, what are your thoughts on having said what you have said and having to deal with the repercussions from the social/thought/conduct/police and other government agencies?"

No more worried than I was before Bush/Cheney instituted the Patriot Act. I said a lot worse stuff that made it into letters section of the news paper about Nixon and his crowd and I'm still able to write, to speak, and all of that old stuff is still out there, just like Mr. Aryre's stuff, if anyone were truly interested.

"Do you think that "The Great 'Bot In The Sky" will comb through all of our posts and pluck the ones that it disagrees with for further action?"

It could and perhaps has. Somehow, tho, no one from the government has shortened my leash. However, if you were to ask me about what can happen within the confines of Corporate America, I could give you a VERY different answer from first hand experience ~ another one of those guilt by association things that seem to be so damned relevant at the moment.

"Do you think that in your lifetime you will hear the sound of jack boots or see the sight of an FBI or SS badge?"

Oh, yes. I already have. But not here. In Franco's Spain in the very early 70s. Not marching but just walking the beat, machine gun at the ready, and myself observing that as he passed by the various sidewalk cafe's, the voices of the people would drop off to nothing like wave passing in lockstep with his progress. Made me think of what it must have been like in a similar situation in Berlin in the late 1930s.

As for the FBI, I have had to meet with them twice in the past. Once as a reference for a friend seeking a classified job in DC, and once, when in the Army, because some FBI agent in Texas in the late Sixties did not read his in-house bulletins to know who and what the hell the Peace and Freedom Party was in California. A quick call on his part to their office in CA cleared that up and sent me on my way. Apparently it was not harmful enough to exclude me from a top secret clearance and work in our hospital's Plans and Operations office (lots of classified stuff there).

"Do you think that something strange will happen to your employment circumstances?"

As said above, it has already happened, but not from the government, but from within the paranoia of a Fortune 500 company. I have personal experience that it does happen, but I have already posted that wonderous experience on this OT section, and got the rapt attention of no one.

I will pose a question: From what quarter do you think these things might originate??

And another: Do you believe in Black Helicopters?
(a diamond formation of them actually flew right over my house one afternoon when I lived in Boise. But they didn't land in my yard.)

Thanks, Rod. I probably overstated that, but one has to wonder sometimes when the traffic seems to pass something by like leaves in the gutter. BTW, I added another experience in an edit above.

Hey Bob!

I missed your post concerning your experience with an employment issue. Where is it?

I am not a full out conspiracy guy but I do believe that there are efforts within our government and even the private sector that could include the need for "black helicopters".

You should have seen the "practice tricks" that the Air Force used to do up here in the mountains. The jets would positively scare the do-do out of you with no warning at all. They have slacked off in recent years but still there is an occasional F-whatever they are trying to take the tops off the trees at just below Mach 1.

Where do the spiders come from? All around and everywhere, under the carpet and out in the hen house. I do not discriminate! I am terrified of everything and everyone. LOL

well thank you for your questions but i am gonna answer them as i like. i am afraid that if this polarization, exaggeration, rumor mongering, intolerance, spinning continues we will end up with a political system (when are kids are left to deal with it), like Thailand, Republic of the Philippines, Congo etc.

print this off, put in a time capsule and have a good laugh at my expense in 2050. I hope.
