Should I, or shouldnt I use any kind of sealant on the windshield gasket. I can put it in dry, but is leaking ever an issue?

I used only the gasket and it was done over 2 years ago --I have been thru some heavy downpours in last summer's lousy rainy weather and not a leak anywhere. As long as the metal is good and clean --mine was freshly painted-- and you follow carefully the instructions to install the glass/ gasket you should be fine . The worse part is installing the chrome pieces --good luck
No selant. But you will need lubricant. Haven't done one yet. My new windshield is still in the box.
Here's some info I found.

The only one I did was 13 years ago. No sealant either. Put the seal into the opening (it will look to be too large, but put it in and scrunch) then put the glass into the seal with the string method. Last comes the evil plastic locking pieces!
