Didn't realize what a PIA it is to remove old lines and install new ones thru the radiator shroud. Anybody know a trick I'm missing? (Don't really want to cut up the old lines)

Lots of soapy water in a spray bottle. Use extra soap when you mix it up. Just keep spraying the ends of the hoses till they slip through the grommet.
Good luck.
Use new grommets first. We just did this with Lou's hoses at the ABFM. Slick it frommet up and pull hard. To install the grommet in the radiator surround, use a flat screwdriver or something more appropriate to push a bit of the grommet through at a time rear to front. I remembered it backward but Lou pointed out the lip in the front side so definitely back to front. Don't use slickem here as it will just keep popping out.
used lube on mine and put new rubber grommets in at same time by putting grommet on the line then twisting the grommet in to the shroud..seemed to work ok..Charles
Thanks guys. After blown oil filter last week, put a new oil filter spin on adapter in her, but notice cracks in the cooler oil lines. One of those 'while I'm at it' deals! Where do ya stop?8-)
When you are no longer in jeapardy of puking an Exxon Valdez.
by the way i've discovered that when i take the first line loose from the engine...whichever one...i can use the compressor hose in the end of the line and blow the oil out of the cooler and lines and i make alot less mess when i take the lines loose.

True that..... also, (you probably already know) but use TWO wrenches when tightening hose nut-to-cooler...high risk of breaking the cooler fitting without that approach. My experience was as Chris described... but, we got 'er done though.
I install the large nut thru the radiator diaphram first then install the split grommet with a screwdriver where the line is steel just behind the large nut. THEN lube it up and push on one side and pull on the other. Bob
You're never through. Remember, the youngest of our cars is 30 years old and they were never intended to last this long. What car ever was? That's a sure way to put a company, selling new cars, out of business. My car is over 43 years old and I'm amazed at the number of parts that are original and still going strong. RAY
