If you think some of the aftermarket rack boots are a little weak - you'll love this one.

Duct tape would have lasted longer :) What respectable PoS DPO would use packing tape.
Shoot, when I was younger, I didn't even realize that you were supposed to put oil in those.
But, it actually worked out better. Since there wasn't any oil in them, when they actually broke and got brittle and disentegrated, the sand and road debris didn't stick, so there wasn't any wear!
I ran them like that for 10 years probably. Still look brand new.
we may put a little to much emphasis on these things. If they work that long with no oil, They probably don't need much.
B
I'd say that 90% of the regereered/operable Bs in the US have owners with (a) no bentley (b) little real understanding of the car, and (c) no willingness to spend anything to make it work right.
almost every other B owner I run across fits this profile. they immediately start trying to tap me for parts and work, free, of course, and when i decline (no, I'm not going to go pull an engine from a 79 when i have to supply all the tools and hoist let alone all the work all for nothing for someone who complains that the manual is too expensive)
i started out that way. wouldn't have minded to work on it but didn't feel like i had the time and sure had trouble getting around to it without a garage. now i go out there looking for an excuse to take something apart. had to grow into it. lots of us do. the rest of them eventually sell the car-or whats left of it-to one of us.
MGs only tolorate for so long someone who won't take good care of them. they are tinker-er's cars and won't be satisfied until they find someone who will fulfill their needs.
Don't think I would really want the car if there wasn't something to tinker with.
That's at least a good percentage of the experience, the rest is driving it.
If it ain't broke, fix it.
