I am thinking of painting vinyl seats and door upholstery, but I am concerned about the outcome and durability. Has anyone had any luck with this and what paint did you use? Thanks, Phil

Painting the interior is an excellent way to give a car an inexpensive facelift. I highly recommend duplicolor flat black for vinyl and leather. It says vinyl on the can but I use it on leather too. It's truly wonderful. Make sure you shake the can properly for an even spray. Most people dont shake it properly, they simply shake it up and down, but I find it better to hold the can parrellel to the floor and rotate your arm in a 360 degree motion [as if your were opening a crank window], this gets the ball in the can moving around the sides of the can. When you spray keep your distance 'at least '10' inches and spray lightly. A heavy dripping spray in not what you want. I painted the seats, dash, doors and carpet. I love the stuff. It holds up really well and the parts I painted does NOT look like it was painted. It looks natural. Practice on something to get the hang of it.

I switched a white interior Ford Courier interior years ago to black with MarHyde and it worked really well. The trick is to clean what ever material you are going to paint over extremely well so that the new color sticks as it should.

My son used this product to go from brown to black 5 years ago and it's still looking good.
Key is, what Lee says, clean thoroughly before applying the colorant.

I don't mean to thread jack, but can you do something similar to freshen a GT headliner? Some type of fabric or vinyl off-white paint? Anyone done that?

I used the surflex just recently to do my top and it looks marvelous. I can't say how it wears but it was a really easy brush on application
