I have a 1968 MGB with an 18GF engine. I was wondering if the water pump is supposed to be painted? It appears to be in Clausager's book. If so, is it the same color as the engine block, head, valve cover? Thanks.

My new engine, the water pump was not painted. It is aluminum, not cast iron. Not sure that is the reason...or that it was installed after the block was painted :)

The factory painted the complete engine, water pump etc. In 68 they used the color maroon.

Yes, like Jim said, the water pump is engine color, but the pulley is yellow, like the fan.

For the fan yellow, try Kylon school bus yellow.
