....when I tell my sweetheart she has kisses sweeter than wine...and as her sugar daddy I may soon be breaking the law....and it ain't the wine that I'm that I'm talkin about....

The inference is that tobacco and alcoholic beverages have govt regulation when in reality they don't. The govt just taxes the hell out of both. I think this is a campaign in thin disguise for the govt to start taxing hell out of sugar as well... Next it'll be foods with fat, then carbohydrates... will it end?

And a week from now another study will say it's good for you. I don't pay much mind to these reports. Is scary when they start wantin to make more laws out of em. What's next...white bread?? Instead of going next door to borrow a cup of sugar, you will have to take a ride to the bad side of town and see Dwane the Drug...I mean Sugar dealer.;)

OH NO… regulation!!!

Scientists publish a paper… and it’s the end of the world as we know it!

I guess as long as we allow kids to consume Twinkies and a Coke we ought to allow them to have a Lucky Strike, a Bud and a hit of crack as well.

PCADOGAN... not some people, the United States is already the world leader in Obesity at 30.6%. So some people might be better stated as a lot of people.

8.3% of Americans have diabetes and roughly 25% of the population is prediabetic... another doughnut please!

I guess the Dairy Queens will become speakeasys...Geeezz!

If this is about fat people, as has now been said, they will have to also go after Pizza, Hamburgers & Beer. That should carve a few pounds. 8-)

A Fish & Wildlife Trooper was walking through the woods when he found a man at a campfire with a bird on the spit.

"Howdy - Whatcha cookin' there?"

"Bald Eagle."

"Holey Cow! You can't eat a Bald Eagle! They're a protected species!"

"Yeah."

Curiosity got the best of him, and he had to ask "What's it taste like?"

"Kind of a cross between a Passenger Pigeon and a DoDo bird."

Cooked right they are a bit more tender than the California Condor but lack the tang of a Spotted Owl.

When I quit the Winstons, June29, 1994, 11:00pm, EDT, for about 2 weeks I found myself reaching for one that wasn't there at certain times, like after meals. Then for a couple of months, only when I was stressed a little. Then, I didn't miss the damned things at all. Should never have started - I knew better, just caved in to my environment, I guess.

Yesterday was payday, so last nite my wife Patti was about to take off with her two girl friends - I swear they're like the 3 musketeers. Anyway Patti's always got this minty-fresh breath and when she kisses me I always asks for s'mores. And what a set o' mounds on that gal! So I go outside and sit on the porch and my neighbor RC comes over and remarks that the moon sure looked like a big ole pie up there in the sky next to the milky way. I look up just in time to see a meteor shootin across the sky - a real starburst of light. We got into our discussion about bubble gum baseball cards, and that led to who was the greatest baseball player of all time? We finally agreed it was twixt Mickey Mantle and Baby Ruth. While we were sittin on the front porch the the Reeses across the street drove up to their house. RC remarked that Mr Reese sure was a nutty guy, and I said, yep, a real dud. We both snickered a little. After a while the gals got home and RC said he'd better skittle on home and let out his kit-kat and I told him to give his wife, Whatchamacallit, my best. I never can think of that woman's name!

TRIKER

Sugar is definately not the problem with obesity, High fructose corn syrup is in a large amount of the foods out there and the effects on the body makes one not feel full when they should feel stuffed.
Another problem is this low fat this and low fat that, the body needs a specific amount of fat to digest otherwise it will begin storing it as it is not being in the food as needed.

I'll stick with my (sugar)sweetened tea and my untrimmed steaks, chops and skin on my chicken.
The only diet stuff i deal with is Bud Light and Marlboro Lights:)-DB)-

Yanno, John, there's a lot to that. Processed food is for convenience, not nutrition. Low fat, low calorie food just doesn't taste good. I used to butt heads with the dietician & doctors when they wondered why the old guys wouldn't ead their low calorie, low fat, no fun diets in the nursing home, and wondering why they were losing weight. I'd rather they ate something they liked rather than starving themselves with something that is "good" for them.

Yep, processed food is bad news.

Have to disagree about low and non fat products though, in their place. After drinking it for a while, I now prefer skim milk. Even 2% tastes "funny". Same thing for low fat icecream and frozen yogurt. The fatty stuff now tastes greasy and unappetizing to me. But no worries. I choose my battles, and the non fat and low fat products allow me to eat that second piece of cake, enjoy an omlette, or use butter and cheese on things that really need them, and not put my total fat intake up too high.

I do suppose there are people who abuse nonfat foods to the exclusion of necessary fat and oils and detriment of their health, but that's their problem!

Rod -
I think a lot of it has to do with what/how we're taught as kidlets. I will try everything, and there are only a couple things I don't like - not to say I won't eat it, however. I don't like being hungry!

My wife & I agreed that we would not let our dislikes influence the kids, and as a result our children ate whatever we put on their plates, and did so until they started school, and started hanging out with their friends who were picky eaters. That's where they learned "I don't like..."

My son however, always hated peas, eversince he was a baby. He used to line them up on the high chair, and squash them one by one!

Me - I don't care for milk - never have, but love rich ice cream.

The old guys I was referring to were of the meat & potatoes generation, and it just seemed cruel to starve them
clinically with stuff that was "good" for them.

x2. When I was a kid, skimmed milk was a grey, watery substance that looked and tasted horrific. I went over to skimmed milk about a year or so now as part of a diet and never looked back. Totally different these days, it looks and tastes like milk. For a time my family would buy one skimmed milk, one semi-skimmed, but they have now gone completely over to skimmed. Can't tell the difference.

Plenty of great-tasting low-fat recipes/meals. We used to be a meat & 2 veg family (snicker) and lots of ready meals until I took over cooking duties. I cook 5-6 times a week, not always low fat but always fresh.

You can get the fat your body needs from "good" fats like oily fish, or nuts, etc, rather than wedges of artery-clogging cheese. Make foods high in saturated fat the exception rather than the rule.

Live longer and have more time to enjoy our beautiful planet.

Pretty simple equation to me.

X3 on the milk, but, those greasy, crusty ole fish filets from LJS still send me to just this side of heaven. I eat something fried about once avery few months, but ChicFilA sandwiches and LJS fish still do it for me!

Jim, picky eaters are one of my pet peeves.

My stepson phoned up Sunday and said he was making chili for their Superbowl party. Of course, he was having difficulty with ingredients. He wanted to use bell peppers, but his father-in-law won't eat them. I told him he was lucky his mother wasn't going (she's a vegetarian). The wife of a friend of mine won't eat chili with beans. Some people don't like it hot. Some people don't like onions. I told him that if he made it to please everyone he'd have to make tomato soup and call it chili!

Somebody wouldn't like tomato...

A "friend" comes to dinner once in a while - getting so I won't invite her - won't eat what I cook, goes out and gets McDonalds.

Miss Manners would just puke.

Jack, ChickFila has a chicken salad sandwich that when toasted or heated releases an adventure in taste. I highly recommend it. but order it toasted.

Many things we consume are poisons. When taken in moderation they don't always make you sick, but they are still poisons. To willingly consume poison because you want to or like it is one thing. But to think that those things are not poisons is keeping your head in the sand.
