Does anyone know of any good Jaguar sites? I guy up the road from me has a '96 XJ Vanden Plas with 112k miles for sale for $10,900. Beautiful car, but I don't know much about them. Can they take high miles?

Go to <www.team.net>
They I am sure have more than one jaguar list you could ask a couple of newbie questions on.

Thanks guys for the links. I spoke with the the owner today. I found out this guy owns a body shop and buys cars at auction for re-sale. This particular Jag was a theft recovery vehicle and has a salvage title. That's way he is about $7-8K under NADA. He has no idea about it's service history or where it's from (he thinks Long Is). It's a big beautiful car that I would love to own, but I'm staying away!

Good that you're hanging off that one. Theft recovery vehicles can develop some strange electrical problems and at that mileage it would be ready for a set of rod bearings pretty soon.

A friend of min just missed a pristine low mileage one owner XJ-6 for $5,000.00 last Fall, in a bind and couldn't afford it. I told him to call me if he ever gets in that situation again and I'll buy it.

Yeah, JDW, that one fit the cliche, "If's it's too good to be true, it isn't."
