I posted on here quite a while back that I had been approached by a local businessman about inventoring a huge stash of vehicles he recently purchased. I drove and spent the day walking thru this place...about 6 hours....and saw a small fraction of the cars. Most can't be gotten to as they are stacked and crammed. I did though discover a complete Jensen Healy parked all alone in a small opening. Seems complete..rough. My interest is in the VWs..363 titles of all models. Most will be crushed but there are lots of decent cars and literally tons of parts. There is also a huge buiding with the doors welded shut but peeking in there are dozens of pre 70s verts...nothing but verts. I think there are some British cars crammed in the rear of the collection. I leave thursday for a few days of counting and doing an inventory. They've offered to pay me ot take all the cars I car trailer away. Once the clean out starts I would imagine there will something for everyone...also dozens of some real nice Studebakers. One I looked at is a Commander..mid 50s. Large V-8, perfect body, glass, chrome etc. and it runs. Looks like a 57 T-Bird on steroids. Please let me know if anyone has a wish list as to post what is there would take forever.

He ran across this deal back about July. The new property owners want all that "junk", (to them), off the place so they can build a new business there.

FWIW I know a '53 Chevrolet nut in Denver who will buy most anything related to '53 Chevys. He has almost every cardbord dealer advertisement there is. From crawling around in a few dealership attics, you can sometimes find where they have cut the old ones up and made them into walls. Often these are salvageable.

I will buy most any GM related neon if you can ship it to DFW. I have the "Powerglide" and a "Chevrolet" window neon signs, but still need an original '50's "Chevrolet" clock and a 1949 "The most beautiful BUY of all" Chevrolet neon sign. Broken items are OK, and I don't need the transformers.

If you have a lot of 20's-50's GM or other oddball mechanical parts like gears, spiral shocks, and brake parts that are un-marked and/or difficult to identify let me know as my father will often buy this sort of stuff in bulk, and may be willing to pick them up. This includes big truck items common to rural dealerships, and IH truck parts as well.

Sounds like Jack should lease a warehouse and go into business!

I know you're interested in the VW's but if it was me... I'd trailer off the high value stuff, sell it, and use the money to buy the VW stuff I really want. You'd probably get more for that Jensen (if the engine isn't toast) than you would for all but the rarest VW. You get my point? Maximize the space on that trailer looking at resale value and make some money. Just my two cents.

Gee... didn't spell Healey correctly...will most likely get me booted:) Anyhow, went and spent a few days doing inventory. Sadly the Jensen is slated to be toted to the crusher area in the next week or so. And as far as it being worth more than the rarest VW?? There is a 23 window deluxe bus, a couple of 15 windows and various other split buses(67 and earlier) 30 to be exact. All have been purchased by a guy I know. Problem with moving them is that its 20 acres...and about 4000 vehicles. Some are stacked. No roads thru to speak of, just walkways so everytrhing will have to be moved working from the edges in...and from a main road thru the center outwards. Some beautiful iron. 67 Pontiac vert. V-8 auto. on floor..buckets, console. 48 Chevy vert..still has original top and 100% complete damage and rust free. 39 Merc. 4 door..suicide doors. 41 Ford sedan. 61 Chevy bubble top. Found a nice 63 Chevy Impala..still had the 409 emblems..no drive train. Nice body. TONS of stuff. Most will be crushed but hundreds will be sold as we extract them. No one can come in and walk thru...alot of pilfering is happening so everyone has to be escorted. I'm fortunate as I know the new owners and have a free fun pass....I drool alot...won't be buying much if anything, just having a ball helping the new owners.

If I weren't so far away, I would love to liberate that Jensen from its new owners.
What kind of American convertibles are there? Maybe something can be saved.
