Sounds like the making of an Urban ledgend! But the real question is, would be if you could drive it from British Columbia to St. Louis?
Hmmm - lets see, at about 150 gallons/hour it would run for about 5 mins on the B gas tank - just enough to find out that the wipers don't work, and you're out of fuel!
Wasn't there the old urban legend of the kid who strapped a JATO rocket to a beetle and ended up splatted on the side of a rock in New Mexico?
Is that like the guys who "knew somebody" who put airplane fuel/jet fuel in their car and made it go like hell? Don't they know that airplane fuel is LOW octane and jet fuel is diesel?
I have my airplane certified to run on auto gas - I buy the cheapest that has no alcohol and it runs perfectly! Around here that means Meijer's gas at about $1.50/gallon as opposed to about $2.80/gallon for avgas!
Sold many gal. of 100LL to drag racers....It was cheaper than the green raceing fuel..
Now..we've all put 100LL in our cars and you know that. Fried the valves on the 82 Tercel, but it was fun while it lasted.
very close

snopes.com (THE urban legend source) thoroughly debunks the thing here:
