Maybe I'm the last to hear of this, but here is a solution to a problem.
The TR7 doesn't want to leave home, so everytime I take it to market it develops one electrical issue after another.
The latest was Friday night before the ABFM when Dan TFM wanted to hear it run. It started quickly, ran great, but on shutting off the key, the ignition light came on and stayed on. Someone else caught that by the by. I disconnected the battery overnight so it wouldn't run down. David Walsh suggested unplugging the alternator little wire (the TR7 is a bundle plug so it didn't matter) then plug it back in. Surprise! It was like brain wiping a computer by unplugging it! The 7 hasn't had an issue since; didn't sell, but hasn't had an issue since! :)
My guess is that this knowledge will translate across the marques.

Chris, I suspected that your alternator was leaking current back when the engine was off like mine was on the B until yesterday until yesterdays failure when the light came on and stayed on , engine off. Any juice drawn from the battery has to be made up the next time the engine runs causing the alternator to run hot.

Hey, however you make the electrons fall in line and go where they need to go is all fine by me.
